West Middlesex University Hospital decides on the Dakota healthcare solution for Patient Identification
Dakota Integrated Solutions has recently been successful in securing the Positive Patient Identification project incorporating printed wristbands for West Middlesex University Hospital. The trust went through an exhausitive selection process over many months to identify the supplier that best met the guidelines laid out in the NPSA Safer Practice notice no.24 on printed wristbands & eventually chose Dakota IS for their experience in rolling out this technology, innovative solutions to potential issues faced & the pro-active way they advised West Middlesex on 2D Barcode technology.
The project incorporates the following:
- HC100 wristband printer from Zebra Technologies (www.zebra.com)
- Provision of Zebra ZBand wristbands incorporating the brand new babysoft bands for neonatal
- 2D Barcode readers from Honeywell. Wireless barcode scanners operating on 2.45gHz & manufactured with special healthcare plastics to aid infection control and hospital cleaning regimes
- SoloMed, Dakota’s contingency software for use in instances where Hospital Systems such as PAS/A&E etc are unavailable
- Integration with the trusts’ hospital systems – CaMIS (PAS), Symphony (A&E) & eCaMIS (Order Comms).
Commenting on the recent success Geoff Monk, Dakota IS’ Healthcare Manager said “We are delighted to have secured the business with West Middlesex. We have been involved with the trust every step of the way from them attending our NHS Technology Day in June 2008 through to supplier evaluation & now ultimately securing the project. They have left no stone unturned in evaluating the proposals on the table from interested parties & for them to have chosen Dakota via this rigorous process is testament to the reputation we are developing in the NHS.”
