Royal Bolton Hospital employ Dakota for Patient Wristbanding Solution

Dakota IS, based in Carrington Manchester has been chosen from a list of companies to provide a full Positive Patient ID (PPI) solution to comply with the National Patient Safety Agency’s (NPSA) Safer Practice notice on printed wristbands.

The trust undertook an exhaustive selection process & chose Dakota from a number of potential suppliers including LaserBand. During the process Dakota invited Royal Bolton Hospital to their annual Technology Day for NHS end users, undertook presentations to clinical & ward staff, committed to a mini pilot as well as succeeding in the trusts’ rigorous tender process. An integral part of the Dakota bid was the provision of a compliant wristband solution & integration with the trusts’ PAS system.

In detail the project specifics included:

  • Provision of Zebra HC100 wristband printers & associated consumables
  • Provision of hardware maintenance contract
  • Provision of Dakota IS PASiMED solution incorporating integration with the trusts iSOFT PAS system & formatting of the wristband including 2D barcode
  • Provision of 2D Barcode readers
  • Hot staging of printers prior to deployment.

Additionally Dakota undertook high level training at the trust to ensure staff were familiar with the solution prior to roll out.
