Mid Cheshire Hospital "delighted" with their Patient ID Solution from Dakota
Following on from the recent deployment of Zebra HC100 printers by integration experts Dakota Healthcare, Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been bowled over by the feedback received from staff across the different areas of the site.
The printed wristbands have produced significant benefits since being rolled out:
- Reduction of errors on patient identification & resultant improvement in patient safety has been evidenced
- During the pilot phase a number of Trust staff wore the printed Zebra wristbands & found them comfortable, durable & exhibited minimal print degradation after some 3 weeks of wear
- Greater efficiencies are now in evidence across the Trust saving staff time in the process
- More productive time is now being spent with the patients
- Quicker results are now in evidence on blood sugar tests in view of associated barcode technology being used in conjunction with the printed Zebra wristbands
Patient Safety Lead at the trust, Ms Joanne Falkland commented
“It helped that Dakota had supplied and deployed hundreds of Zebra HC100 printers to numerous Trusts in England beforehand so we could speak with other colleagues for reference. The feedback we have received from the staff post roll-out has been extremely encouraging as this was a major process change for everyone. The quality of the Zebra printed wristbands is excellent, they are very cost competitive compared to other wristbands and have made a big difference to the way the Trust operates in terms of driving greater efficiencies along with the main aim of improving patient safety. We only have positive things to say about the project.”
What the Trust said:
“We have on average 100 admissions per day and to print out the wristbands instead of handwriting each one saves us roughly 1½ hours per day meaning more time with our patients. The Zebra HC100 cartridges are easy to change & the printer is very quiet”.
Admin Team, Treatment Centre
“The printed wristbands provided by Dakota have been great. The time taken to prepare the patient’s notes has been much reduced as a result. Furthermore there is less chance of transcribing errors now they are printed”.
Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist, Eye Care Centre
“The wristband printer has improved efficiency in the department. We no longer have to spend lots of time handwriting patient information on the bands plus there is much less room for transcribing errors which must make it safer for the patients”.
